Marco the Malta Bus at Malta Dyslexia Association Malta
10 November, 2014
Angele and Margaret with lovely Philip who did all that high tech stuff which made the presentation possible. He even brought us some lunch. Thank you Philip we are truly grateful. And, here is the Team Marco with Marco and Nifi!
The workshop was presented by Dr Margaret and professionally accompanied by our Theme tune composer Richard Brown. Angele Galea the Co-author who does all the clever stuff with words and stories explained her book in Maltese and talked about Book2. Didn’t she look great as “Marija”? Margaret explained about visual recognition and how this can automate the reading process which frees up working memory for comprehension to take place. Margaret also directed her audience to this website to see how phonics can be taught using the already learned words using little posting boxes. The audience was treated to a practical exercise in Chinese, working memory overload examples and proof fluent readers can predict words rather than decode them.
The Maltese audience were great and took lots of Memory/flash cards and bought books and CDs too. Don’t forget Marco and Nifi are only available on this website as we designed them uniquely for our book. We can still get them to you for Christmas if ordered well in time to avoid international Christmas rush posting delays.
